Friday Action Hour

Since May of 2020, North Carolina UUs and friends have gathered every Friday at 11:00am to take action and experience the joy and power of community. We recap the past week and take action on the issues impacting our state and country. And there is always great music to help us feel the justice movement in our bones! ALL are welcome! Join us every Friday at 11:00am via this Zoom link. If you can't make it, you can still take action at any time through our Actions Google Doc And sign up for our Weekly Friday Action Hour Email that includes a promo of the week's actions, the Zoom link, and the link to our Actions Google Doc. Special Action Hour Events

UU Justice NC will occasionally host special evening action hour events when we are called to mobilize our state network to powerfully meet the moment. Typically these are done in collaboration with a partner organization around an urgent issue. The events begin with spiritual grounding, celebration of community, and a detailed briefing of the issue followed by a direct action which all participants do within the hour-long event.

Major Campaigns

Most years, UU Justice NC engages in one or more major state-wide campaigns. In 2020 we activated over 650 UUs across 16 NC congregations in our UU the Vote Campaign. In 2021 we engaged over 150 UUs in the redistricting process. Read more about Current Campaigns here.

Education, Leadership & Spiritual Development Programming

A critical part of our work is to support NC UUs growth as skillful, spiritually grounded organizers for justice. Check out our Upcoming Events page and Resources page for more information.

In-Person Rallies, Protests and other Direct Actions

We live into our faith by showing up alongside our partners in Raleigh or other places across the state to make our voices heard.

Legislative Advocacy

UU Justice NC lives into our mission as a prophetic, but not partisan 501 c3 non-profit through advocacy for specific legislation that creates more equity, and affirms the worth and dignity of all people. (Example – advocating for Medicaid Expansion, fighting voter suppression and anti-transgender bills, etc.). We work to hold elected officials accountable but never endorse political candidates. This is consistent with the work of our larger UU faith, and is within the legal parameters of both our organization and UU congregations.
