Blueprint NC
Blueprint NC is a progressive ecosystem of over 120 formal partner 501(c)(3) organizations and an expanding web of network allies committed to building people power for an anti-racist, inclusive democracy. They convene our justice ecosystem to work together across issues and racial lines to advance equity and social justice in North Carolina. They are also the North Carolina chapter of the national State Voices network.
UU Justice NC became an official partner organization with Blueprint in 2021. Since then, we have worked closely on a range of electoral and safety initiatives including their state-wide rapid response safety network during the 2024 election.
UU Justice NC is proud to serve as the co-conveners of Blueprint NC's Faith Table.
Carolina Jews for Justice
CJJ is a grassroots network that combines advocacy and education to organize a non-partisan Jewish voice for justice in North Carolina. Since 2017 we have proudly partnered with CJJ on a range of justice issues including immigration, fighting for healthcare, housing and workers rights within our state’s budget.
Our most impactful collaborations have been our joint democracy programs. In 2024, we helped co-create and operate the NC Rapid Response Safety Network in partnership with Blueprint NC, hosted seven joint You Can Vote voter empowerment trainings, bringing together Jewish and UU congregations across the state, and organizing three national phonebanks and make 60,000 calls for reproductive rights. We now continue our collaboration as founding members of Blueprint NC's Faith Table.
NC Budget & Tax Center
UU Justice NC has proudly partnered with the NC Budget and Tax Center since 2021 as part of the People’s Budget NC Coalition. We saw that, in the midst of a pandemic, with millions of North Carolinians suffering, the state had billions of dollars available in its bank account. Yet instead of investing it in our people and communities, elected officials continued to stash money away in the name of fiscal responsibility.
We believe that a budget is a moral document. A reflection of our values. We strive to be bold in imagining a North Carolina where our state’s budget – which spends OUR MONEY – actually invests in the people of our state and creates the conditions in which every person can thrive. Our biggest budget win came in 2023 when, after a decade of fighting, North Carolina finally expanded Medicaid to over 600,000 people!
UU Justice NC continues to working in close relationship with the Budget & Tax Center on a range of policies issues including the fight to stop the elimination of corporate income tax in our state.
North Carolina Justice Center
The North Carolina Justice Center’s mission is to eliminate poverty in North Carolina by ensuring that every household in the state has access to the resources, services, and fair treatment it needs to achieve economic security.
Since 2021, UU Justice NC has been proud to partner with the NC Justice Center. Our closest collaboration is with the Justice Center's Health Advocacy Project! Our biggest win came in 2023 when we help expand Medicaid to over 600,000 people in our state.
You Can Vote
You Can Vote trains and mobilizes volunteers to educate, register, and empower all North Carolina citizens to successfully cast their ballot. For years, UUs across the state have been engaged with You Can Vote serving as voter registration volunteers, Voting Rights Champions, election day help-desk support and more. You Can Vote has also led virtual and in-person trainings and education events for NC UU congregations about the history of NC voting rights and voter registration best practices!
North Carolina Coalition for Alternatives to the Death Penalty
The North Carolina Coalition for Alternatives to the Death Penalty is a statewide coalition of member organizations and individuals committed to ending the death penalty and creating a new vision of justice. We are dedicated to broad criminal legal reform rooted in restorative justice. We work with and educate lawmakers, communities, and the public about the racist, unjust and ineffectual death penalty system. We advocate for equitable alternatives that promote healing and increase public safety. We center the voices of people most proximate to the death penalty: homicide survivor family members and individuals living on or exonerated from death row and their families. We believe their leadership and stories are key to transforming our system.
